Comparative evaluation of preventive and interceptive orthodontic treatment need in children aged 6, 9 and 12 years in Central India

Background: Preventive and interceptive orthodontics are most commonly advocated in patients to reduce the prevalence of malocclusion. The objective assessment malocclusion is crucial document complexity cases. To determine this critical aspect treating malocclusion, numerous indices have been developed over years that need for orthodontic treatment. index preventive treatment (IPION) one such calculates a patient undergo procedures. Due paucity studies compare important preventing different age groups, we conducted study. Methods: A total 384 children aged 6, 9 12 were divided into three groups evaluated their IPION was used need. mean score classify into, ‘no need’, ‘moderate need’ ‘definite each group also according biological sex. numbers then compared using Chi-squared test scores ANOVA. Results: In 6-year-old children, 63.28% them needed some type treatment, 9-year-old 71.88% 12-year-old 59.37% treatment. Conclusions: results study showed high proportion requiring It noted there no difference 6- but it decreased group. concluded boys 6 old significantly greater than girls old.
